Help Us Get “IN PLAIN SIGHT” on NETFLIX!

When we set out to document the inspiring stories of six female abolitionists fighting to end sex trafficking in the United States, we were motivated by the fact that Americans need to see the truth of what’s happening in cities and towns across the nation. In the process of learning about trafficking, we wanted people to be inspired and motivated to take action.

Here’s the great news: The film has been seen at over 150 screenings hosted by police departments, nursing programs, social worker organizations, high schools, universities, non-profits, and faith-based communities. The response to the film has been tremendous, and we are thankful for the support.

Here’s the not-so-good news: In our current technological culture, the four best ways to get a film into the hands of the public include DVDs, iTunes, Amazon, and Netflix. Through our distributor, Word Films, the first four platforms are available to you, but NETFLIX TOLD WORD FILMS “NO THANK YOU.” The truth is that Netflix is the most popular way to watch documentaries, and our first film, Mother India: Life Through the Eyes of the Orphan, was seen by thousands upon thousands of people because of its two-year presence on Netflix.

If “In Plain Sight: Stories of Hope and Freedom” is on Netflix, you can use it as a tool to educate, inspire, and motivate your friends and family to take action to end human trafficking in your city.

Mr. Sarandos,
Please work with Word Films to ensure that IN PLAIN SIGHT: STORIES OF HOPE AND FREEDOM is available on Netflix. This inspiring documentary features the stories of six female abolitionists who became aware of the issue of sex trafficking in their cities and chose to do something courageous to fight against it. The film has been screened in 150 locations around the US this year, and it’s available on iTunes and Amazon. Your company has turned it down from Word Films, and you’re missing out on something that the public wants (and needs) to watch. I have done step #1 and #3. I do not do Facebook and Twitter. I have not seen the film. I support the cause. I acted like I was a potential Netflix customer (I am not one currently,) and this is the response I got from Netflix’s live chat:

    Netflix Dilan
Glad to have you on the line here Michael! You’ve got the right guy on the line today to pass the word along!

I’ll make sure my licensing team gets word of your suggestion, and we’ll do what we can to have it available as quickly as possible

Hello from Indiana! I screened your documentary and then had female teen residents our residential group home watch it. Its a very personal topic for some of my teens but something we desperately needed to focus on. I emailed the content manager and left a message with the Netflix live chat! Fingers crossed!!
