“How Can Congress Make a Dent in the Sex Trafficking Epidemic?”
Congressman Ed Royce – 39th District of CA
Welcome to the “Awaken Our Lives with David Trotter” podcast. As many of you know, we are currently focused on producing the IN PLAIN SIGHT campaign to help sex trafficking in the United States. We are working in concert with Abolition International, and the resources will be released by Word Entertainment in the Fall of 2014. As part of this project, I’m co-executive producing a documentary film and music album as well as co-authoring a 31 day group study guide. In the process, I’m meeting many leaders who are working to eradicate this issue, and I want to introduce you to some of them in the weeks ahead.
TODAY’S GUEST: Congressman Ed Royce – 39th District of California
This week, I had the opportunity to sit down face to face with Congressman Ed Royce. He is serving his eleventh term in Congress representing Southern California’s 39th District, based in Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties. For the 113th Congress, Royce was selected to be Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and he has served on the Committee since entering Congress in 1993. This has given him a unique vantage point on the issue of sex trafficking, and he has demonstrated a passion to end the epidemic – both internationally and domestically.
